Grab a Social Sandwich with Edwin Smith

Edwin Smith from The Social Sandwich is a social media expert having worked on some of the biggest reality TV shows to hit Australian screens.

Starting at 10 Sport and developing the 10 Motorsport social presence in the early days of Facebook Live, Edwin went on to be the social media producer for I’m a Celebrity…Get me out of Here, visiting the South African jungle three seasons in a row and spending time with Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown.

He’s also worked on Survivor and The Voice among many others and says his claim to fame is having some B-Grade celebrities like his Instagram posts! He now is a consultant to businesses, celebrities and sportspeople on their social media presence through The Social Sandwich.

Some of the key takeaways from this episode include:

  • Stay up to date with new additions to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc and experiment with them
  • Develop a short list of what you think are your main areas of interest or attributes
  • Be authentic
  • Social media is an escape and should be entertaining as well

A big g’day to the Marketing team at Hello Fresh as well...feel free to slide into our DMs :-)

This week’s motorsport coaching podcast, powered by Motiv8 Training is a bit of fun. We catch up with Edwin Smith from the Social Sandwich. Matt Payne with you once again.

Edwin’s been at the forefront of social media for a decade which started in motorsport when he was at Channel 10.

He has some great stories, tips and tricks from the ever changing face of social media and gives us an insight as to what it was like racing zebras and hippos to work when he was the Social Media Producer on I’m a Celebrity get me out of here in the South African jungle.

He’s also giving an exclusive offer to Motorsport Coaching listeners, more on that later and in the show notes.

In the meantime, we’ve got plenty happening at Team Motiv8 including our new website which has launched at motiv number 8 dot com dot au.

Motiv8’s online training courses are available on there.

Rather than starting your engine this week, load up your sandwich with your favourite fillings, kick back and enjoy my catch up with Edwin Smith from The Social Sandwich.

Well thanks again to Edwin Smith, there were plenty of great tips there.

The Social Sandwich is offering a discount to Motorsport Coaching podcast listeners. For $90, Edwin will provide a one to one coaching session including a social media health check, impart some best practices, content brainstorm and Q&A. If you were one of the businesses or celebrities he normally consults, that would be $140, so reach out, take advantage and give him some love - full details in the show notes.

If you haven’t filled out the survey in relation to The Motorsport Conference yet, jump onto our Facebook page and fill it out, the program is filling nicely!

Thanks again to Edwin for his time, keep in touch with us in relation to your racing program and how we might be able to help you whether nutrition, fitness, diet or media.

And if anyone has a contact at Hello Fresh - send this to them and put them in touch with us!

Also a quick shoutout to our friends at the Xtreme Karting Complex on the Gold Coast, home of karting’s Race of Stars. The guys there have been dealt a rough hand from the local council which sees 20 people out of work and the venue shut down - hopefully only temporarily. If you haven’t already, show your support by joining the Support Motorsport at Pimpama Facebook Group and let’s get this facility back up and running.

Thanks again guys, we love the support, here’s to Covid buggering off so we can enjoy far more blue skies and green racing this year!

Until I’m next in your earballs, I’m Matt Payne and you’ve been listening to the Motorsport Coaching podcast, powered by Motiv8 Training!
